Subtropical Cultures

The residency program "Subtropical Cultures" results of partnership between Tbilisi Photo Festival and MagiC Carpets, Creative Europe platform.

Throughout the residence, the artists worked in a variety of techniques, including video, photography, video game, computer-generated images and text. They mused around topics such as historical memory and amnesia, personal experience and trauma, issues of gender, reflection on the everyday life and universal generalizations.

The program aimed to support the visual artists and to use art as a tool for trustful exchanges between artists representing the conflict divided sides.

The week of presentations resulting from the art residency program "Subtropical Cultures" will be held from April 1 - 16, 2021.
