Color of Weightlessness

2016-2021

“Color of Weightlessness” unites the latest work by David Meskhi, the majority of them will be exhibited for the first time.

Capturing the movement of the body and its beauty is not only a quest for non-existent perfection for the author, it is also a study of identity, a search for freedom, and a deep emotional experience. A body with its gender fluidity in Meskhi’s Photographic image is as earthly as it is otherworldly.

Athletes captured by Meskhi enables a viewer to witness the moment between taking off and falling – the brief moment of weightlessness when the body reaches the highest point and stops until the gravity pulls it back to the ground.

In “Color of Weightlessness” the bodies fragmentally captured from different angles, on the one hand, aspire to freedom and on the other, obey the norms established by society.

In Meskhi’s photographs, unearthly bodies exist beyond time. In the space which is open to mystical interpretations, to state of mind and body encapsulating the mystery of the being. In the space where weightlessness has its colour.

David Meskhi’s exhibition “Color of Weightlessness” is organized by Tbilisi Photo Festival and Tbilisi Goethe Institute. The exhibition is a closing event of the 12th Photo Festival.
